2021 Top 10 Connector Manufacturers: Order lead times and price competitiveness
The results of the 2021 Bishop & Associates North American Customer Satisfaction Survey of the Electronic Connector Industry are in. In this article, we reveal the Top 10 connector suppliers for order lead times and price competitiveness.
Order Lead Times and Price Competitiveness
Bishop & Associates has completed its 2021 North American customer survey, which evaluated 37 connector manufacturers. A total of 221 customers answered 18 questions relating to important issues such as quality, pricing, delivery, lead times, technical support, and more to determine the Top 10 connector manufacturers.
Responses were gathered from several sales channels. The distribution of responses throughout the sales channel is shown in the following chart.
Note: 46% of participants are engineers and 23.1% are purchasers of connectors.
Survey participants were asked, “What is your level of satisfaction with order lead times?” and “What is your level of satisfaction with price competitiveness?”
Response choices were:
7 = Extremely satisfied 3 = Dissatisfied
6 = Very satisfied 2 = Very dissatisfied
5 = Satisfied 1 = Extremely dissatisfied
4 = Neutral
Top 10 Connector Manufacturers for Order Lead-Times
The following table identifies the Top 10 connector manufacturers ranked by average score. These manufacturers received the highest customer evaluations for order lead times. Also provided is the number of responses.
Samtec, WAGO, and Mill-Max ranked first, second, and third, respectively, in 2021. LEMO Connectors experienced the greatest improvement, up 21 places over the 2018 survey. Molex, Amphenol, and Samtec received the largest number of survey responses in the 2021 survey.
The following table is a comparison of the rankings of this year’s Top 10 connector manufacturers for order lead times versus the previous four years in which the survey was conducted.
Samtec achieved first place for order lead times in each of the last five North American surveys conducted. Phoenix Contact, WAGO, Mill-Max, and 3M Electronics have placed in the Top 10 in at least four of the past five surveys. All 10 companies have been honored with a Top 10 ranking in at least one of the last five surveys.
Top 10 Connector Manufacturers for Price Competitiveness
The table below identifies the Top 10 connector manufacturers receiving the highest customer evaluations for best performance in level of satisfaction with price competitiveness and total number of responses.
J.S.T., Samtec, and WAGO are the industry’s Top achievers in the category of price competitiveness with J.S.T. earning the coveted first place award followed by Samtec in second place, and WAGO in third. was the most improved with an impressive jump from 23rd place in 2018 to 9th place in 2021.
The final table below is a comparison of the rankings of this year’s Top 10 connector manufacturers for price competitiveness versus the previous four years in which the survey was conducted.
J.S.T. ranked #1 for price competitiveness in 2021 and has been in the Top 10 in each of the last five surveys. Samtec has ranked #1 or #2 in all five of our past surveys. Mill-Max is at #10 for 2021 and has also ranked in the Top 10 in all five past surveys. WAGO ranked #3 and has been in the Top 10 in the last four surveys in which they participated.
