Molex Quad-Row Board-to-Board ConnectorsMolex announced the commercial availability of the Molex Quad-Row Board-to-Board Connectors, featuring the industry’s first staggered-circuit layout for 30% space savings over conventional connector designs. These patent-pending connectors offer product developers and device manufacturers greater flexibility to support compact form factors, including smartphones, smartwatches, wearables, game consoles, and augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) devices. Molex’s long-standing collaboration with product developers from a major smartwatch manufacturer propelled the initial design of the Quad-Row Board-to-Board Connectors. Molex engineers also worked with experts from a global leader in the design, development, and manufacturing of flexible printed circuits (FPCs). Together, the engineering teams validated the first-ever, staggered circuit layout, which positions pins across four rows at a signal contact pitch of 0.175mm. The result delivers unprecedented space savings while enabling high-density circuit connectivity. The Quad-Row Board-to-Board Connectors adhere to the 3.0 A current rating, meeting customer requirements for high power in a compact form factor. Additionally, the product aligns with the standard soldering pitch of 0.35mm to expedite volume manufacturing using surface mount technology (SMT) processes. Reliable, robust performance is assured, thanks to interior armor and insert-molded power nail, which safeguard pins from damage during volume manufacturing and assembly. These capabilities, along with wide alignment, facilitate easy, secure mating, and lower fallout rates. The connectors’ compact size and reliable performance meet product miniaturization demands for AR/VR, automotive, communications, consumer, defense, IoT, medical, and wearable applications.

Amphenol Industrial Operations has enhanced its ePower-Lite line to include a 2-pole mini ePower-Lite connector Amphenol Industrial Operations has enhanced its ePower-Lite line to include a 2-pole mini ePower-Lite connector with a secondary locking design that is rated to 30 A. This connector was created as a low-cost alternative for EV customers. Designed for use in electric vehicles, hybrid cars, and heavy equipment/forklifts, as well as by PDU, MCU, and OBC manufacturers, the ePower-Lite Mini has an operating voltage of 600V AC / 800V DC. Specific applications include, the PTC (positive temperature coefficient), PDU (power distribution unit), MCU (motor control unit), battery packs, and battery charging. These robust connectors feature a lightweight plastic shell and compact design to provide weight and space savings in vehicle design. They also include HVIL and EMI shielding for safety and performance. The connectors are touch-proof and feature a straight version plug for easy mating, as well as a 4 key/keyway design to prevent incorrect mating. The ePower-Lite Mini can be mated at least 100 times. This connector series has a UL 94V-0 flammability rating, an IP67 rating when mated, and an operating temperature range from -40 °C to 125 °C.

Amphenol Communications Solutions' wire-to-board fan connectorsAmphenol Communications Solutions’ wire-to-board fan connectors come with a blind-mate interface. The 1.25 mm pitch wire-to-board connectors meet a maximum of 2.8A/pin current carrying capacity, whereas the 2.00 mm pitch wire-to-board connectors meet a maximum of 5.3 A/pin and the 2.54 mm pitch wire-to-board connectors meet a current-carrying capacity of maximum 5.5A/pin. These connectors come with cable side terminal crimping and are available with one wire or two wires.

Harwin Datamate family of connectorsHarwin has a new addition to its Datamate family of 2 mm-pitch high-reliability (Hi-Rel) connectors. The Datamate pin-in-hole reflow (PIHR) products are a reliable solution that is highly suited to automated assembly. Part of the company’s Datamate L-Tek series, these connectors feature a locking latch. Compared to the standard Datamate connectors, they have 2 mm long terminations instead of 3 mm and come in 2 contact and 3 contact versions. The locking latch mechanism used in these components provides rapid mating connection and a high resistance to vibrations without taking up valuable board space. Datamate PIHR connectors are ideally suited for attaching encoders and sensors to machine tools and robotic systems, where accuracy to determine position and movement is critical. They also give reliable connections for IIoT modules being installed in environments where exposure to vibration is high. Supplied in a tape-and-reel format, these connectors avoid any manual handling before soldering, and can be mounted using automated pick-and-place machinery. Pin-in-hole reflow – also known as pin-in-paste (PIP) – terminations bring the mechanical retention expected from through-hole technology (THT) with the production process advantages and cost-effectiveness of surface mount technology (SMT).

Yamaichi YTM connectorYamaichi Electronics´ new modular board-to-board mezzanine concept combines the highest density with total modularity and 112G PAM4 data rate. The modular concept allows the widest range of pin count and stacking height variations. The key part is the blade, the core of the mezzanine connector. It consists of 96 pins. All pins have the same SI performance. The blades can be lined up like bricks up to 960 pins on a footprint of 30×60 mm. Without any interposer this concept allows stacking heights from 5 to 10 mm in 1 mm increments. However, with an interposer it can be built up to 40 mm while maintaining the 112G performance.

Amphenol RF IP67-rated HD‐BNC connectorsAmphenol RF offers a wide selection of waterproof IP67-rated HD‐BNC connectors. These connectors are designed specifically for use in systems that may be compromised through exposure to the elements. The sealed HD‐BNC interface is engineered to provide strong protection against anything that would negatively affect system performance and is ideal for a variety of miniaturized applications. IP67 HD‐BNC connectors utilize the trusted bayonet‐style positive locking mechanism for easy installation and secure mating. This interface is available in several both 50 and 75 ohm configurations including straight and right‐angle versions for cable mount applications and features a closed entry interface. HD‐BNC connectors are a popular choice for broadcast, military, and industrial applications. They are four times smaller than the traditional BNC connector which allows for
