Hirose Electric has launched the IT14 Series, a stackable ball grid array (BGA) mezzanine connector designed for high-speed and high-density server applications. The hermaphroditic IT14 Series features a self-mating design to eliminate the need for additional mating parts. Fewer mating parts reduces costs, increases reliability, and enhances performance. The IT14 Series supports high-speed data transmission more than 56 Gb/s NRZ/112 Gb/s PAM4. An Ethernet OAM specified connector, the IT14 Series mezzanine connector utilizes a high-density design (172DPs/in2) to meet telecom and networking application requirements. It has a stub-less two-point contact design for ultra-reliability. A protective housing encapsulates the contact tips to prevent warping during mating. The IT14 Series BGA mezzanine connector has a rated current of 1.2A, a rated voltage of 30V AC/DC, and an operating temperature range of -55 ℃ to 105 ℃.
KYOCERA AVX added new four- and five-position models to its 9176-700 Series capped insulation displacement contact (IDC) connectors for 18–24 AWG wire. They are engineered to satisfy the demanding requirements of automotive, transportation, industrial, lighting, and medical applications. These IDC connectors have a user-friendly, low-profile surface-mount form factor with an integrated termination/retention cap that allows users to simply insert a wire into the contact — no stripping required — and press it down to provide a robust and reliable gas-tight connection to the PCB. This quick and efficient process doesn’t require any tools or solder, which reduces both complexity and cost compared to solder and crimp processes. The resulting connections have been tested to various levels of shock, vibration, and temperature cycling. The 9176-700 Series is available in through-wire and wire-stop variants for maximum flexibility. Through-wire models allow wires to be terminated at any point, while wire-stop models terminate the end of the wire and have a stop face feature to protect the wire end. Single-contact 9176-700 Series connectors are rated for 600VACRMS or the DC equivalent. Two- through five- connectors are rated for 300VACRMS or the DC equivalent. The series is rated for operating temperatures of -40 °C to +125 °C and storage temperatures of -40 °C to +70 °C.
SCHURTER’s new Smart Connector range and Smart Ecosystem features the internal Smart Connector DS11 and the external Smart Connector DT31, the world’s first intelligent power entry module combining intelligence with a standard IEC 60320 C14 inlet. It performs basic power entry functions while providing equipment manufacturers the ability to offer their customers extended functionality without needing additional engineering time and cost to develop their own solutions. The DT31 is designed to be used as a standalone, plug-and-play device that can quickly and conveniently upgrade equipment by way of daisy chain from its IEC 60320 C14 inlet and C13 outlet. Both the DS11 and DT31 have a WLAN connection. The DS11 also offers a serial interface for direct connection to the host device. SCHURTER’s comprehensive cloud-based Smart Ecosystem offers a range of services for different needs. The basic software package is included with each DS11 and DT31. Four additional software packages with extended functions are available. The DS11 and DT31 can be accessed via the Smart Connector App, available on Android and Apple iOS, making remote monitoring and controlling connected devices easy.
Series V connectors from Amphenol Aerospace, supplied by PEI-Genesis, are 20% smaller and 50% lighter than 38999 Series III connectors and feature higher voltage capabilities. Series V connectors have a “Diamond Grip” nut design, are scoop-proof, and utilize AS39029-qualified gold-plated contacts, making them ideal for military, aerospace, and general-duty harsh-environment applications.
The PCIe Gen 5 Flip CEM from Amphenol Communications Solutions is a new 1.0 mm pitch vertical card edge connector that follows the PCIe standard mating interface. It is designed with a different footprint because the contacts are “JJ” type or “LL” contacts, which provide maximum savings of up to 19.5% in the keepout area. The current Flip CEM supports 32GT/s (Gen 5) and the mating side supports backward compatibility with PCIe 4/3/2/1 card. The Flip CEM is ideal for use when the PCIe connector must be placed close to the PCB board edge. The Flip CEM connector can avoid the trace from going inside the connector, which causes stub.
The Multi-Con-X from Switchcraft-Conxall, supplied by Sager Electronics, allows the much larger backshell from the Mega-Con-X to be used with the Multi-Con-X. It is offered in a kit with one of two backshell sizes, or as part of a complete connector kit. The Multi-Con-X is compatible with any Multi-Con-X cable plug or cable-to-cable connector. Available options cover a wide cable diameter range from 10.2 mm to 14.5 mm. Includes screw-down cable clamp and elastomer strain relief.
Fischer Connectors launched the Fischer KEYSTONE 6 wearable power and data hub for dismounted soldiers. The new tactical connectivity solution comprises a 6-port tactical hub, Fischer KEYSTONE 6, a power management app plug-in for the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK), and customized cable assemblies with connectors designed to meet Nett Warrior and NATO STANAG 4695 standards. The hub is an easily deployable MIL-Spec solution to the tactical connectivity challenge presented by digital modernization programs, i.e., more data, higher speeds, greater power, and less weight in harsh environments. Fischer KEYSTONE enables soldiers to connect and power their digital gear easily and reliably, and to efficiently manage the flows of data (USB 2.0 and SMBus) and power (100 W – 5 A max) through a single source controlled from an easy-to-use app on their EUD. It provides military OEM integrators with a competitive solution comparable to the U.S. Army’s Next Generation Hub (NGH). Swiss-engineered for MIL-Spec digital connectivity with Fischer Connectors’ technologies in ruggedness, sealing, miniaturization, and data transmission.
