The new Industrial Gateway Communications Device by WeidmüllerThe new Industrial Gateway Communications Device by Weidmüller is the solution for interference-free data transmission over long distances, connecting multiple devices across multiple protocols. In systems where the installed base includes Industrial Ethernet and/or serial protocols, establishing communication across devices is critical and upgrading the equipment isn’t always feasible. The Industrial Gateway is the most cost-effective way to move data between multiple PLCs and slave (server) devices, each with a different protocol, saving you time, money, and the headache of configuring multiple gateway devices. The industrial Gateway supports 12 protocols (the equivalent of 15 one-to-one gateway devices). The more protocols are bridged, the more savings are gained. It features two or four serial ports that operate simultaneously, allowing connection of multiple devices with a single gateway. Additionally, each port can be configured with a different protocol. Weidmüller’s Industrial Gateway supports data transfers to and from any port, in any combination (Ethernet-to-Ethernet, Ethernet-to-serial, serial-to-serial).

Hyperboloid contacts are extremely resilient under rough environmental conditions and combine low insertion and extraction forces to provide a high number of mating cycles. The contact itself is enclosed in a housing that can be PCB-mounted, D-shape, rectangular, rack-and-panel, circular, or customer-defined.

Neutrik Americas announced the FIBERFOX Fiber Optic Connection SystemNeutrik Americas announced the FIBERFOX Fiber Optic Connection System. Designed to meet the requirements of MIL-DTL-83526 military specifications, Neutrik’s FIBERFOX Fiber Optic Connection System is the ideal solution for use in harsh environments — thanks to its expanded beam fiber optic connectivity, which makes it an exceptional choice for use in dirty, dusty environments. FIBERFOX expanded beam fiber optic connectors utilize a lens to expand and accurately align the light emitting from an optical fiber. The aligned light beam is transmitted through an air gap to a mating connector, where the light is collected and focused by a second lens into a second optical fiber to complete the connection. With 50/125 multimode fiber, the expanded and aligned light beam has an active area that is approximately 3,600 times larger than a typical 50 µm multimode fiber core. That dramatically increases the percentage of available transmission power — with no variation in signal strength over time. FIBERFOX incorporates both 2- and 4-channel heavy-duty connectors that are IP68-rated for waterproof performance both mated and unmated, without a protective cap. These wear-free connectors can withstand 10,000 mating cycles without any maintenance, and no special cleaning or measurement tools are required.
