This week’s Product Roundup highlights SC/LC Fiber from leading suppliers.

SC/LC Fiber

Phoenix Contact offers a portfolio of fiber optic connectors and patch cords. SC connectors feature easy mounting, push-pull technology with an option for a duplex connector for LAN, energy, and industry applications. LC connectors feature high packing density with an option for a duplex connector for LAN and data center applications. Patch cords feature 156 standard and 28 configurable variants with every typical combination of connectors. Other features include excellent mechanical and optical characteristics, single mode (UPC/APC) and multimode, components, UL94 VO and LSZH jacket, RoHS 2 conformity, and the ability to withstand temperature ranges from -25 °C to +70 °C. Broad testing procedures ensure high quality.

CDM Multimode optical jumper cableMultimode, Duplex Optical Jumper Cables from CDM Electronics are manufactured in the U.S. and are terminated with Corning optical SC/LC connectors. Assemblies meet or exceed Telcordia Endface Geometry Requirements and are individually tested for insertion and return loss. The assemblies are offered with plenum or riser-rated 3 mm, 2 mm, 1.8 mm, or 1.6 mm jacketed fiber or 900 μm buffered fiber, and can be supplied at any length as a complete jumper. Cables are serialized for traceability.

Molex LC connectors from AvnetMolex LC connectors, supplied by Avnet, reduce space requirements by 50% over 2.50 mm ferrule connectors without sacrificing performance. LC connectors are available in industry-standard beige (multimode), blue (single mode), and green (angle polish) colors, and accommodate 900 μm buffered fiber, 1.60 mm, 2.00 mm, or 3.00 mm jacketed cable.

JPC offers full line of single mode and multimode SC and LC Fiber patch cablesJPC offers full line of single mode and multimode SC and LC Fiber patch cables in both APC and UPC. Although the company’s standard patch cables range from 1 to 10 meters, JPC specializes in customized options to meet exact connector, jacket, and length specifications. JPC’s SC and LC cables were designed for accurate mating, low insertion loss, and simple installation in both point-to-point and passive optical networking. JPC has helped design fiber-optic solutions for some of the world’s largest data centers. Whether related to data center, fiber to the home (FTTH), or new fiber-optic infrastructure, JPC has the experience and expertise to complete your next fiber project on time and on budget.

Molex offers eight-port LC mating adaptersMolex offers eight-port LC mating adapters capable of accepting eight simplex connectors, four duplex connectors, or a combination of the two, with a range of color, mounting, and safety shutter options. Molex SC connectors have been tested to the rigorous Telcordia GR-326-CORE standard and are available in several colors and boot options for single mode, multimode, or APC applications.

Smiths Interconnect developed the LightCONEX series of optical plug-in and backplane module connectors Smiths Interconnect developed the LightCONEX series of optical plug-in and backplane module connectors for VPX systems in response to the stringent SWaP requirements of today’s defense applications in which fiber optics are replacing high bandwidth copper interconnects. This VPX series of active, blind-mate optical interconnects offers flexibility, light weight, very high bandwidth, and forward compatibility. LightCONEX includes a fixed, plug-in module connector and a floating backplane connector compatible with proposed VITA 66.5 standard. The low-profile plug-in module connector is screwed on the board edge through an interposer, saving board space and eliminating fiber cable handling. The backplane connector has a spring-loaded mechanical transfer (MT) ferrule to ensure a secure optical mating connection under extreme shock and vibration conditions.

JAE’s FO-BD7 SeriesJAE FO-BD7 for outdoor use is an environmentally resistant optical module incorporated plug connector. Thermal management has become a major focus of modern, miniaturized base stations for mobile devices because their optical modules can be affected by heat and commonly require replacement once the base station is installed. This complex process relies on connectors that can be easily replaced. The FO-BD7 features a seamless optical module replacement process and thermal countermeasure by installing an optical module within the plug connector. The LC connector is embedded in the outer connector housing.  IP67 rated water / dust ingress protection, and environmental resistance make the FO-BD7 ideal for outdoor applications.
