Disposable Interconnects
HyperGrip from Smiths Interconnect is a circular plastic, user-configurable, color-coded connector with push/pull latching design allowing for one-hand disconnect. HyperGrip is designed to meet medical industry requirements such as finger-proofing to IEC60601, flammability rated to UL94 V0, and is compatible with most sterilization requirements. The Series includes disposable plugs for HG2 and HG4 sizes designed to support overmolding and high volume production methods and to withstand at least 30 cycles while ensuring the connector performance in terms of insulation resistance, dielectric withstanding voltage, current carrying, and low-level current resistance.
Fischer Core Series Disposable supplied by Kensington Electronics meets the needs of medical device manufacturers whose products are designed for disposal after a short number of uses. This push-pull circular connector is a cost-effective solution that does not compromise on quality. Whether directly mounted into a disposable hand piece, overmolded, or mounted onto a disposable cable, this plastic connector offers multiple configurations and optimally suits a wide array of applications, from catheters to surgical hand tools and more. This turnkey solution is pre-cabled, and thus fast and simple to integrate into any medical device. With an ingress protection of IP40 and a high degree of electrical insulation, it is compatible with Fischer Core Series Brass 104 receptacles.
The NovaSensor NPC-100 and NPC-120 Series pressure sensor from Avnet is specifically designed for use in disposable medical applications. The devices are compensated and calibrated per the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) guidelines for industry acceptability. The sensors integrate a high-performance, pressure sensor die with temperature compensation circuitry and gel protection in a small, low-cost package.
LEMO’s popular REDEL 1P Single-Patient-Use Receptacle
is compliant with the ANSI/AAMI HF18:2001 standard for electrosurgical devices and a snap-in design that eliminates hardware costs and is easily integrated into the base of surgical hand tools. It is available with 4 -14 gold-plated contacts and snap-on backshells in PSU or ABS plastic. It offers reverse-gender keyway configurations in the 9-, 10-, and 14-pin versions, optional color-coding and keying to avoid improper mating, solder cup or PCB pin contacts, and extension cables compatible with steam autoclave sterilization. Rated for 100 cycles in operating temperatures extending from -50°C to +150°C, the REDEL 1P Single-Patient-Use Plug mates with the 1P receptacle and is designed for users that prefer a simple two-piece design to an extension cable. It is rated for a minimum of 15 cycles in operating temperatures extending from -30 °C to +90 °C.
