Small-Form Copper and Fiber Connectors Product Roundup
This week’s Product Roundup highlights Small-Form Copper and Fiber Connectors from leading suppliers.
Small-Form Copper and Fiber Connectors
The Low Loss Floating Fiber from Smiths Interconnect features a floating pin termini that provides exceptional low loss characteristics with high reliability and repeatability. Designed to fit available formats of standard off-the-shelf electrical MIL-DTL-38999, it eliminates the need for costly tight tolerance and hard to locate D38999/60 and /61 connectors. Floating fiber offers improved insertion loss performance with a .006″ radial and 3.25° angular misalignment, precision alignment of the fiber ferrules in extreme environmental conditions of shock and vibration, precision floating ceramic ferrules, and stainless steel terminus body. It is designed for use in size 16 cavities of the MIL-DTL-38999 Series III connector and features Sabritec technology.
Teledyne Reynolds’ tiny ruggedized PeeWee cable assembly builds on decades of experience in small form factor, high voltage connectors. Used in the most demanding SWaP applications, this mini connector is based on the proven PeeWee connector interface. The military grade, mechanical shock- and vibration-resistant 18 kVDC version is rated to 10,000 feet and the 12 kVDC version is rated for use up to 70,000 feet over a -55 °C to +125 °C temperature range.
Heilind Electronics supplies Molex iPass High Density Active Optical Cables, referenced as mini-SAS HD in the SAS 2.1 standard. iPass+ HD connectors meet SAS-3 next-generation speed and density requirements. The low-profile system provides 4x and 8x cable-plug options, and the external I/O connectors includes eight sideband signals per 4x port. These additional signals enable active copper and optical cables, as well as active pluggable modules for extended-length applications in data centers. The connectors mate to all current mini-SAS HD cable assemblies, and the active optical cables (AOCs) reach up to 100 m with low-power consumption while reducing cable-management challenges. Additionally, these connectors and cables are the chosen interface for the PCI Express (PCIe) External Cable Work Group’s Generation 3 Cable specification.
The patented Optiworks’ high-density passive optical TAPs modules from BizLink allow for passive monitoring of your fiber network with less space and lower cost. With up to 36 TAP Links installed in a 1RU space, this is the highest possible density of monitoring and security infrastructure. Yet the patented design provides easy access for installation and maintenance. No tools or special cabling are required. The TAP modules are flexible and scalable, supporting up to 6 of 1 Gb/10Gb/40Gb/100Gb (LC) or 3 of 40Gb/100Gb (MPO) TAPs each module and are available in multimode (MM) and single mode (SM). The split ratio can be customized from 50/50 to 99/1. The advanced thin film technology is adopted to minimize the insertion loss and mode sensitivity. The TAP module is secured by the magnets in the chassis. It offers the fiber management solution and easy plug/unplug of the TAP modules as well. The product is compatible with monitoring devices from all major brands, and is ideal for security, network monitoring, and analysis.
COAX Connectors’ range of small-form RF connectors and cable assemblies is designed and manufactured to provide highly reliable signal transmission and integrity. Available in both 50Ω and 75Ω versions, COAX Connectors products are available in all commonly used interfaces including MMCX, MCX, SMA, SMB, SMC, DIN 1.0/2.3, BNC, and TNC. The connectors provide a minimum 500 mating cycles with operating temperature ranges from -65 °C to +165 °C, have MIL 39012 interfaces and are available in a variety of surface finishes. COAX also supplies bespoke cable assemblies to meet your specifications.
Avnet offers Samtec’s FireFly™ micro high-speed edge-card connector, one part of a two-piece system with a tiny footprint on the board and interchangeable for both copper and optical flyover cable assemblies. The edge card connector provides data and supports signal speeds at 20+ Gb/s.
