Harwin has significantly expanded the scope of its custom cable assembly capabilities.Harwin has significantly expanded the scope of its custom cable assembly capabilities. This service from the company’s newly announced HRi business unit covers multiple configurations and features, specifying cables to any length. The Harwin HRi high-reliability interconnect products for which custom cabling can be provided include the company’s 1.25 mm-pitch Gecko, 2 mm-pitch Datamate, 3 mm-pitch M300, and high-power Kona families, as well as the Mix-Tek combined power and data connectors. Among the numerous applications where they will be used are robotics, UAVs, AGVs, satellites, and medical equipment. The Harwin team has the skills necessary for coax cabling work, as well as the use of twisted pairs and the addition of shield braiding to combat EMI issues. Backpotting can also be incorporated into assemblies to achieve better cable retention. With very small minimum order quantities (MOQs), Harwin’s custom cable offering is suitable for early-stage prototyping work. It also fully supports customers across the rest of their products’ lifecycles, including transition into production phases.

Times Microwave Systems introduced its InstaBend 141 Times Microwave Systems introduced its InstaBend 141 (IB-141) high-performance microwave assembly. InstaBend 141 provides a larger-diameter, lower-loss addition to Times Microwave’s Systems InstaBend family of microwave assemblies, which feature a flexible preassembled design for interconnects between RF circuit cards, modules, and enclosure panels. IB-141 is ideal for both inside-the-box and between-box connections in applications including space flight, thermal vacuum, microwave test, and many other commercial and military applications. InstaBend 141’s diameter (0.163 in./4.14 mm) enables lower loss for applications with stringent requirements in a form that is lighter weight than traditional semi-rigid cables. Its small bend radius and flexibility enable low-profile installation, easier routing, and tool-free bending compared to semi-rigid cables, with a maximum frequency of 27 GHz. The focus of the new IB 141 design is its robust cable-connector junction that can withstand tight bends without performance degradation. Like all InstaBend assemblies, the cable can be bent very closely behind the connector, minimizing footprint, saving space, and simplifying cable routing.

Rosenberger’s Cellmax 12- and 8t-port platformsRosenberger’s Cellmax 12- and 8t-port platforms,1207xx and 1209xx, enhance efficiency levels and allow for more than 18 dBi on the low band and up to 21.6 dBi on the midband. The first release of these new products goes from 698 to 2690 MHz and will later be released to support both L-band and 600. With a higher antenna gain, the coverage area is increased and fewer sites need to be deployed, rendering massive CAPEX and OPEX savings for the operators. The increased mid/high-band coverage allows for a higher level of aggregation between the available frequency bands, allowing the subscribers to use more bandwidth and enjoy higher throughput levels.

Smiths Interconnect’s new AT Series of RF chip attenuatorsSmiths Interconnect’s new AT Series of RF chip attenuators offers a high frequency of DC to 20 GHz which is required for use in key commercial and space applications. “The single-chip design of the AT Series replaces an array of resistors, saving valuable board space and allowing an easy installation in the customer’s circuit,” said Tullio Panarello, VP and general manager of the fiber optics and RF components business unit at Smiths Interconnect. “The customer’s cost of ownership is decreased by reducing the bill of material and eliminating tuning of the circuit while adding more reliability.” The AT Series is available in various styles from DC-6 GHz for lower frequency requirements up to DC-20 GHz for the broadband requirements of higher frequency commercial high-volume applications. It provides excellent attenuation accuracy and flatness by maintaining an efficient RF power transmission. It offers a proven, robust, thick film construction in a cost effective, easy-to-implement solution. The chip attenuators come already fine-tuned to meet performance specifications, eliminating any fine-tuning or reworking that would have to be done by the customer.

Indium Corporation’sIndium Corporation’s new line of innovative liquid metal pastes (LMP) has enabled a true liquid metal-based TIM solution capable of handling heat dissipation issues while maintaining long-term reliability. With higher viscosity than standard liquid metal, Indium Corporation’s next generation LMPs offer Rth as low as 0.03K/W, predictable spreading characteristics, lower risk of pump-out, and lower total costs. Heat-Spring solutions, ideal for TIM2 applications, are a compressible interface between a heat source and a heat-sink. These indium-containing TIMs offer superior thermal conductivity over non-metals, with pure indium metal delivering 86W/mK. They are available as pure indium, pure indium clad with aluminum to prevent sticking to the device under test (DUT), indium-silver alloys, and indium-tin alloys. The GalliTHERM portfolio of gallium-based liquid metal solutions are designed for both TIM1 and TIM2 applications.

SCHURTER launched its 5121 filtered appliance inletSCHURTER launched its 5121 filtered appliance inlet to meet the increasing demand for smaller electronic equipment. The new, compact filter series features an IEC C14 inlet with capacitors and a fully enclosed steel housing that reliably shields high-frequency interference conducted through cables or radiated interference. Especially suited for applications with shallow installation depth, the new 5121 filter series suppresses the equipment’s high-frequency interference at the mains input while additional low-frequency filter components, such as chokes and capacitors, can be placed elsewhere on the PCB. The 5121 features a version for flange mounting and snap-in mounting. The flange is offered with plastic upon metal or metal only. The snap-in version features snap arms. Securing the metal flange to the chassis with metal screws or snap-in version with snap arms ensures optimal shielding at the panel opening, which reduces the coupling effect and the radio frequency’s ability to travel. The snap arms also provide a clean and neat look using less panel space and installation time. The 5121 series is available in standard and medical M80 versions, making it well-suited for laboratory, industrial, medical, telecom, audio/video equipment, and office equipment. It is safety agency approved by ENEC, CQC, and cURus for currents up to 10 A / 250 VAC according to IEC and up to 15 A at 125/250 VAC according to UL & CSA. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 85 °C. Supplied with flexible wires for ease of installation, the 5121 series is also V-Lock power cord compatible.
