Bioconnect’s Medical Cable Reduces Electrical Interference

By News Release | March 16, 2015

Developed with a medical device manufacturer, Bioconnect’s medical cable reduces electrical interference and is now available to all customers.

Bioconnect Medical CablesWorking with a medical device company, Bioconnect, a division of RF Industries, has designed a cable that eliminates unwanted electrical noise.

A medical device company developed a mapping catheter system that improved the diagnosis and treatment of atrial fibrillation, one of the most common heart rhythm disorders in the world. Noise created by the potential difference can interfere with the amplified waveforms obtained when using a mapping catheter for treatment of this disorder.

Bioconnect engineers developed a cable that creates a circuit between the patient and data collection box, which dampens or eliminates unwanted electrical noise. A clearer signal allows the doctor or clinician to better interpret the data being collected from within the patient’s heart during the mapping procedure.

Medical devices are bombarded with electrical interference within the hospital environment. The explosion of wireless connectivity is one of the biggest contributors to unwanted signal interference. A lesser known factor is interference caused by the difference in potential between the patient and the medical device. This specialty cable is now available from Bioconnect.
