The latest installment of the Battery Electric Vehicle Architecture USA (BEVA USA) series will bring together the industry’s leading OEMs and supply chain professionals to discuss pressing issues and potential solutions in the BEV industry. Presenters include Madhusudan Raghavan, General Motors R&D; William Braff, Lucid Motors; Trevor Wilcox, Volkswagen of America; Amit Ranjan, Canoo; and David Weir, Jaguar Land Rover. The conference, held June 20-21, 2023, is designed to provide a realistic and actionable approach to finding answers. The program will feature a balanced mix of technical and strategic topics, showcasing breakthroughs and best practices to help OEMs lower costs and improve overall performance.

For the second consecutive year, Weidmüller has been awarded a Top Workplaces 2023 honor by Richmond Times-Dispatch. “As a family-owned company with a long tradition, we are honored to receive this employee-nominated award that recognizes our culture and values,” said Bernd Schröder, president, Weidmüller USA. “Our employees, whether early career graduates or seasoned professionals, represent our most valuable resource and are the foundation of our success. Harwin has named TTI USA as its Distributor of the Year for the Americas in recognition of the the company’s ability to meet and consistently exceed expectations. TTI USA focuses on helping customers source connectors, passives, and electromechanical components. The 2022 sales growth that TTI USA has achieved has been a notable highlight, going way beyond the original goals set for the distributor. TTI USA’s substantial demand creation efforts across various industry sectors, as well as the investment of both time and resources into marketing engagement activity are also acknowledged by this award.

DigiKey has been awarded 17 recognitions from its supplier partners during the 2023 EDS Leadership Summit, held May 16-19 in Las Vegas. DigiKey was recognized for its sales results, breadth of product, and more during the past year. The list of awards DigiKey earned includes 2022 Distributor of the Year from Metz Connect and Americas Sales Growth Award from Molex. “DigiKey is honored to have earned recognition from so many of our valued supplier partners in admiration of our shared success,” said Mike Slater, vice president of global business development at DigiKey. “We are proud of our collaborations with suppliers to move engineers and designers forward towards next-generation solutions, growth, and operational efficiency.” DigiKey has also been awarded the prestigious Top Projects Award from Finance & Commerce for its Product Distribution Center expansion. The award recognizes achievements in the construction industry and community that were completed in Minnesota in 2022.

Sager Electronics announced the top performers in its 2022 Supplier Excellence Program. Sager’s Supplier Excellence Program focuses on quality, operations, and business systems support. The company recognized Samtec, C&K, and OTTO for their performance over the past year. For the third time in the program’s history, Samtec was honored with the Diamond Confidence Award for Overall Top Supplier Performance. OTTO received Sager Electronics Supplier Excellence Award for achieving Best Quality for 2022. C&K received recognition for exceeding the program’s criteria for supplier excellence. “Our continued success relies on our suppliers meeting and exceeding the expectations of Sager and our customers,” said Faris Aruri, senior vice president of marketing for Sager Electronics. “We are pleased to recognize the outstanding support of these suppliers through our Supplier Excellence Program.”

On the long journey of the Juice spacecraft to Jupiter, more than 100 Rosenberger connectors are on board. The spacecraft from the European Space Agency (ESA) is known as Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer, or Juice, and consists of various components such as thrusters, communication units, power supply, and scientific measuring instruments. Rosenberger connectors from the SMP, SMA, and RPC-2.92 series provide reliable and high-precision service in the spectrometer SWI (Sub-millimeter Wave Instrument), which investigates the atmospheric composition of Jupiter and its moons, and in the particle spectrometer PEP (Particle Environment Package), which measures neutral and charged particles in the Jupiter system. The Juice mission aims to measure the surfaces of Jupiter’s moons, Ganymede, Callisto, and Europa to discover water deposits beneath the surface and study the physical properties of the ice crust. Rosenberger is certified by ESA as a manufacturer of SMP connectors for space applications. Rosenberger’s SMA, RPC-2.92, and TNC are also qualified by the ESA standard ESCC 3402 (European Space Components Coordination) and fulfil the high requirements of the aerospace industry.

PEI-Genesis announced the opening of a new production site in Philadelphia. This new facility will support the increasing demand for D-Subminiature connectors. It will be utilized to supplement PEI’s largest facility in South Bend, Indiana, to enable quick turn value-add D-Sub products to customers worldwide. “By localizing PEI’s manufacturing capabilities around the world, we can get closer to our customers, allowing us to support their needs more quickly than ever,” says Steven Fisher, chairman and CEO of PEI-Genesis. Currently, ITT Cannon commercial D-Sub products are certified and approved for sale. In the coming months, PEI-Genesis will obtain the certification and approval of ITT Cannon’s MIL-Spec D-Sub products and the facility will become AS9100D certified. Later in the year, PEI-Genesis will onboard other industry leading D-Sub connector manufacturers, such as Amphenol PCD, Positronic, and Cinch Connectivity Solutions, to expand and broaden its product offerings. The D-Sub facility is connected directly to PEI-Genesis’s headquarters and stocks roughly $6 million worth of ITT Cannon connector components and finished goods.
