I-PEX and Teramount Ltd. are collaboratingI-PEX and Teramount Ltd. are collaborating to advance silicon photonics optical detachable connectivity for data centers and for other high-speed datacom and telecom applications. The ever-growing demand for high bandwidth, low power, and low latency in networking and advanced computing applications has led to growing adoption of silicon photonics, and for a continuous need to connect more and more optical fibers to silicon chips. That connectivity needs to be reliable, reworkable, serviceable, and cost-effective, which creates a huge challenge. The collaboration between I-PEX and Teramount will provide a breakthrough solution of detachable fiber to chip connectivity based on Teramount’s self-aligning optics technology and I-PEX’s ultra-precision plug and holder systems. Teramount’s Detachable Photonic Plug for its silicon photonics applications enables a new era of serviceable and reliable fiber connectivity solutions, said Hesham Taha, chief executive officer.

Indium CorporationIndium Corporation has joined the American Semiconductor Innovation Coalition (ASIC). ASIC recently expanded its membership to include representatives from all stages of the chip fabrication supply chain, including packaging (interconnection and protection of the semiconductor chip). Indium Corporation will be joining fellow technology innovators focused on advancing U.S. leadership in the research and development of semiconductor technology. ASIC is a coalition of more than 170 organizations developing a proposal to utilize CHIPS and Science Act funding to serve as the main technical driver for the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC) and the National Advanced Packaging Manufacturing Program (NAPMP). ASIC supports the research, development, prototyping, and manufacturing transfer goals of the NSTC and NAPMP and is developing strategies to ensure they are met. Indium Corporation has a nearly 90-year history of materials innovation in electronics assembly, thermal interface materials, high-purity and ultrahigh purity metals, metal salts, and oxides used in a wide variety of electronics applications. It also has strong current and expanding capabilities in materials sustainability. Together with ASIC, Indium Corporation seeks to support U.S advancements in both wafer fabrication and packaging. Indium Corporation will have access to high-volume wafer fabs through NSTC and packaging prototyping lines through the Centers of Excellence under development by NAPMP. Through co-development of materials and their associated cutting-edge usages in advanced applications, Indium Corporation will be able to fine-tune the company’s technology to volume production, alongside its current high-volume electronics materials.

Digi-Key Electronics launched new features to its myLists toolDigi-Key Electronics launched new features to its myLists tool, further streamlining collaboration between engineers and procurement professionals. myLists is a modern parts list management tool that consolidates bills of materials (BOMs), price and availability lists, and quotes. The latest features allow users to easily share their BOMs to external team members or to share publicly. With customizable permissions, list owners can allow edit access or “view only” so that everyone can get the information they need, without risking loss of list integrity. The list is updated in real time so collaborators can rest assured they’re working from the most current information, which reduces communication gaps and errors around regarding the BOM. Furthermore, with revision management, assembly controls and approved alternates, teams can more accurately project the availability and cost of components so projects stay on schedule. This update streamlines the process between engineering and purchasing teams.
