What are MIL-STD-1560 connectors?
Meet the Connector: MIL-STD-1560 Connectors
MIL-STD-1560 is the standard that ensures the reliability and interoperability of MIL-DTL-38999, MIL-DTL-27599, AND SAE-AS29600 Series A electrical circular connectors by specifying insert and contact arrangements. This is especially significant for connectors used in ruggedized, harsh military, space, and aerospace environments.
Interoperability refers to the ability for designers to interchange connectors from different manufacturers within their military, space, and aerospace systems while maintaining signal performance and secure mating. This increases design flexibility and versatility.
The DLA standard covers MIL-DTL-38999 Series I, II, III, and IV, MIL-DTL-27599 Series I and II, and SAE-AS29600 Series A.

ITT Cannon space-grade solutions come in a wide variety of layouts as described in MIL STD-1560, interfacial & peripheral seals for contact seal integrity.
Design Notes
Standardization: MIL-STD-1560 standard covers insert arrangements for use with MIL-DTL-38999 series I, II, III and IV; MIL-DTL-27599 series I and II; and SAE-AS29600 series A, circular, electrical connectors. The most recent revision is dated February 3, 2021.
Mating: Many MIL-STD-1560 connectors feature a scoop-proof design that protects the contacts from damage when the connector is mated or un-mated.
