Smiths Interconnect’s new EasyREP qualified option for rail and industrial applicationsSmiths Interconnect’s new EasyREP qualified option for rail and industrial applications expands its range of environmentally sealed products for demanding environments. The REP series of multipole, sealed, and plastic connectors is known for its ability to provide a quick and secure connection for embedded equipment in applications such as sensors, brakes, lighting, air conditioning, and communications in the industrial, rail, Test & Measurement, automotive, and public works sectors. Its superior performance and high number of mating cycles (over 20,000) comes from Hypertac hyperboloid contact technology. Available in 2, 6, and 12 contact positions, the new EasyREP option features the MR contact, a screw-machined contact of 1.5 mm diameter available for cross section cables from 0.75 to 2.5 mm² (18-13 AWG).

HARTING recently showcased its Han HPR Single Pole portfolioHARTING recently showcased its Han HPR Single Pole portfolio at InnoTrans 2022. These new high-current interfaces can be combined with housings in the Han HPR TrainPowerLine (TPL) and Han HPR VarioShell series. The TPL is a lightweight solution for supplying power in underfloor areas, while VarioShell is an integrated concept for the design of jumper cables. Every kilogram of train weight saved improves the CO2 footprint of the vehicle. The Han-Modular Domino Module can save up to 50% of installation space by integrating previously separate types of transmission in a single module slot. When combined with Han HPR Compact housings, the new series achieves a 20% saving in space and a 25% saving in weight by comparison with the HPR standard. Depending on the type of vehicle, many hundreds of kilograms of CO2 can be saved over the life cycle of a train by changing to this type of housing.

Phoenix Contact now includes customizable passive heatsinks and heatsink fillersPhoenix Contact now includes customizable passive heatsinks and heatsink fillers, expanding its popular Industrial Case System (ICS) housing family. Advanced components combined with tighter spaces have put increasing thermal demands on electronic housings. Design engineers can choose from a wide range of thermal management options to keep components from overheating. Passive heatsinks and space-saving heatsink fillers are available in ICS housing widths of 25 and 50 mm. The position of the heatsink base can vary, making it possible to connect electronic components with an installed height of up to 13 or 15 mm. The clearance between the PCB and the heatsink base ranges between 0 and 11 mm, to meet different space requirements. The heatsink can be custom-designed and manufactured to meet the specific layout of the electronics. This ensures optimum heat dissipation in the enclosure and a longer service life of the electronic components. To support the new heatsink solutions, a web-based, intuitive platform for the thermal assessment has been incorporated into Phoenix Contact’s Electronic Housing Online Configurator tool.

Heilind Electronics now offers a broad variety of modular hybrid connectors from JAEHeilind Electronics now offers a broad variety of modular hybrid connectors from JAE. JAE’s KN06 Series connectors are designed with heavy equipment in mind. The rectangular, single-engagement lever locking design meets the demands of semiconductor manufacturing and large industrial applications that require multi-pole wiring. The KN06 can accommodate six modular insulator blocks which share parts with the KN01L series. Secure mating is aided by a 32-position selectable key to prevent misalignment. A lightweight, plastic outer shell reduces weight and effort when mating the KN06 connector. The lever lock furthers mating integrity and ease of use.

L-com expanded its line of fiber optic transceivers L-com expanded its line of fiber optic transceivers with more than 300 new coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) and dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) products. Fiber optic transceivers convert a switch’s or router’s electrical signal to an optical signal, then change it back to an electrical signal at the receiving device. L-com’s new additions are expected to be particularly useful for telecommunications service providers, cable TV multiple system operators (MSOs), data communications companies and enterprise networks, and in government network applications. The CWDM transceivers are offered in eight different wavelengths (1470 nm through 1610 nm, in 20 nm increments). The DWDM transceivers are offered in 40 different channels, from channels 20 through 59 (1530.33 nm through 1561.41 nm wavelengths, in 0.8 nm increments).

Ironwood SBT-QFE-3035 socket Ironwood Electronics recently introduced a new SBT-QFE-3035 socket addressing high performance requirements for burn-in and test applications. The contactor is a stamped spring pin with 14-gram actuation force per ball and cycle life of 125,000 insertions. The self-inductance of the contactor is 0.88 nH, insertion loss of < 1 dB at 20.5 GHz, and capacitance 0.097pF. The current capacity of each contactor is 2.9 amps. Socket temperature range is -55 °C to +180 °C. The socket features a floating guide for precise lead to pin alignment and includes an additional floating compression plate that has a cavity to accommodate a mold case. The specific configuration of the package to be tested in the SBT-QFE-3035 is QFP, 16×16 mm body size, 0.65 mm pitch, and 19 mm lead tip-to-tip distance. To use, drop the IC into the socket, place the floating compression plate, screw down the lid, and apply down force. This socket can be used for hand test and quick turn custom burn-in applications with the most stringent requirements.

TE Connectivity's new QSFP-DD 112G SMT receptacleTE Connectivity displayed a comprehensive lineup of high-performance connectors, sockets, internal and external cable assemblies (pluggable IO, board-to-board), and thermal solutions at the 2022 European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC). The products enable high-speed connectivity for next-generation applications. TE Connectivity’s new QSFP-DD 112G SMT receptacle connectors can address next-generation data center needs by increasing density in an existing QSFP form factor to reach speeds up to 800 Gb/s. These products are designed for 800 Gb/s PAM4 protocols. TE’s QSFP-DD products are cost-effective in 15-18 W applications leveraging proprietary heat-sink technology and are fully backward-compatible, providing an easy upgrade path from existing QSFP solutions. TE offers a broad QSFP-DD portfolio which includes 1×1 to 1×6 cages and SMT connectors. Custom lightpipes and heatsinks are also available.

Carlisle Interconnect Technologies (CarlisleIT) added new lightweight, high-speed, digital data cable MX10G-24-ALW to its Gigabit-Plus line of Ethernet cablesCarlisle Interconnect Technologies (CarlisleIT) added new lightweight, high-speed, digital data cable MX10G-24-ALW to its Gigabit-Plus line of Ethernet cables. Designed for aerospace applications, the new 100 Ω 1-10 G Base-T Ethernet cable features a round aluminum shield instead of the standard copper-based shield, which allows substantial weight savings without sacrificing temperature rating or electrical performance. These new cables are 10% lighter than standard Gigabit cables, compatible with standard RJ45 or CarlisleIT Octax connectors, and suitable for use in high-temperature applications up to 150 °C. They support gigabit data up to 250 MHz, feature identification marking on the jacket, are RoHS compliant, and meet FAR 25.853 flammability requirements and Boeing/Airbus smoke and toxicity requirements. This cable joins NETflight series wire, NF24Q100-01-DL-ALW, a lightweight 100 Base-T Ethernet quad cable, as another option to optimize aircraft weights while maintaining performance.
