Sensors Product Roundup
This week’s Product Roundup highlights sensors from leading suppliers.
The I-PEX ESTORQ is a torque sensor that can easily be incorporated into any device or application, including various types of manufacturing equipment and machines. The electrostatic capacity method achieves compactness and weight reduction. No external amplifier is required to correct the torque value. Incorporating ESTORQ closer to the drive part of each device, such as into joints and links, enables detection of minor torque value that cannot be detected by the electrical current value of the motors or actuators.
Heilind Electronics supplies the NovaSensor NPI-19 digital I2C pressure sensor from Amphenol Advanced Sensors. A member of the NovaSensor NPI Series, NPI-19 digital I2C consists of current-driven, media-isolated pressure sensors, incorporating state-of-the-art IsoSensor technology with I2C interface protocols, giving the OEM user the best in price performance. These sensors are designed to operate in hostile environments while still providing the same outstanding sensitivity, linearity, and hysteresis of a silicon sensor. The piezoresistive sensor chip is housed in a fluid-filled cylindrical cavity and isolated from measured media by a stainless steel diaphragm and body. As with all NovaSensor silicon sensors, the NPI Series employs SenStable processing technology, providing excellent output stability.
Powell Electronics supplies the Honeywell GAPS Proximity Aerospace Sensors Series. The General Aerospace Proximity Sensor (GAPS Series) provides on/off output and can be configured with an optional health monitoring output to the host system. The technology Honeywell uses in the GAPS Series improves on traditional ECKO (Eddy Current Killed Oscillator) topology, the previous standard in aerospace applications. The GAPS Series has a unique circuit that can detect any internal failures and display a fault output instead of a false positive or false negative. This helps to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
Lion Precision, a Carlisle IT company, offers high performance capacitive sensors for complex applications. A high-performing capacitive displacement, distance, position, oscillation, and vibration sensor can deliver the necessary results to achieve market-leading performance. Lion Precision produces high-performance capacitive sensors capable of delivering an unmatched combination of resolution and speed. With a complete range of in-house capabilities, Lion Precision provides shorter lead times and customization to bring high-tech products to market in a way that achieves lasting ROI.
The scalable Zero8 0.8mm SMT connector family by ept connectors meets the miniaturization, robustness, and high-speed requirements of sensor technology. This connector reliably connects PCBs with data transfer rates of up to 25+ Gb/s, and offers stack heights of 6 mm to 20 mm. All options are freely compatible with one another, regardless of being unshielded, shielded, straight, or right-angled. With increasingly intelligent sensors becoming commonplace, the Zero8 fits excellently into popular cost-saving modular designs. The Zero8 ensures a high degree of miniaturization while maintaining electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), ensuring a durable connection to enable full functioning of a sensor’s detection abilities and communication with the cloud.
binder A-coded M12 circular connectors from CDM Electronics are designed for many sensor interconnection applications as an alternative to hardwiring sensors, actuators, and switches. M12 A connectors are available with 3, 4, 5, 8, and 12 contacts and current rated up to 4A at 250V. Various industry-standard configurations are available, including right-angle, ruggedized washdown, and easy-to-mount flange versions. The wide product range includes an FDA-approved Food & Beverage-specific product group.
Arrow Electronics supplies TE Connectivity’s MSP100 pressure transducer that provides stainless steel media compatibility in a low cost, small profile solution. This sensor has no silicone gel or polymeric media isolation methods to fail in contact with water or other harsh chemicals. Pressure connections are provided via an O-ring seal. The device is available in both analog and 14-bit digital output with a port material of either 316L SS or 17-4PH. Additional custom port options are available to meet a variety of application needs. The small size versus performance and media compatibility are provided through solid-state technology.
