Antennas Product Roundup 2024
This week’s Product Roundup highlights antennas from leading connector manufacturers and suppliers.
Antennas
Abracon’s RF portfolio supplied by Avnet focuses on market-leading technology and features antennas with dynamic performance, high efficiency, wide operating temperature ranges, and IP67-rated durability. Each antenna is designed to meet the reliability and high precision needs of the most challenging applications and market requirements. They can be customized for cables and connectors per customer requirements. The collection covers all popular wireless standards, including 5G cellular, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, and high-precision GNSS solutions.
The AN02 series general purpose antenna from JAE features a high degree of design freedom, such as placement in the interior of the board and proximity to other components. A single antenna supports broadband frequency bands from 2.4 to 2.5 GHz, 4.6 to 4.9 GHz, 5.15 to 5.85 GHz, and 5.925 to 7.125 GHz. AN02 offers excellent radiation performance, with radiation efficiency over 75% at maximum and a near-omnidirectional radiation pattern. Applications include Wi-Fi devices, Bluetooth devices, and local 5G (4.6 to 4.9GHz).
Materion’s Alloy M25 (C17300) copper-beryllium rod is used to link the antennas at the top of cell towers to the mobile network, as well as in data centers. M25’s properties minimize signal distortion in coaxial RF connectors and reduce power loss in circular connectors and contact probes. M25 is available in straight rod or coiled wire product forms and in different tempers to accommodate diverse design requirements. After machining and forming operations, M25 parts can be easily heat treated and plated to obtain maximum mechanical and electrical performance. Applications requiring stability to 175 °C or reliable contact force in miniaturized designs specify Alloy M25. In demanding electronic applications, M25 provides performance and reliability superior to any free-machining copper alloy.
The Hirose U.FL series is an ultra-small surface-mount coaxial connector that is widely accepted as a standard in the industry. It features a nominal mated height of 1.9 mm to 2.4 mm and has a small mounting area of 3.0 mm by 3.1 mm. To meet the frequency requirements of a wide variety of miniature devices, the connectors offer high-frequency performance from DC up to 18 GHz. The characteristic impedance is 50 ohms. Supporting automatic mounting, the U.FL is halogen-free and RoHS2 compliant. A tactile click sensation confirms it is fully mated. A wide variety of conversion adapters are available for this series.
Heilind supplies Molex off-the-shelf automotive grade Wi-Fi 6E, UWB, and cellular monopole low-profile antennas in various configurations. They offer high RF performance and reliability for in-vehicle connectivity applications and provide design flexibility and plugin possibility.
