PRECI-DIP Ultraminiature SMD Connector Saves PCB Space

By News Release | May 05, 2014

The PRECI-DIP ultraminiature SMD connector couple reduces the PCB footprint by 40%.

PRECI-DIP Ultraminiature SMD connectorPRECI-DIP‘s new ultraminiature connector couple, recently added to the supplier’s metric line, spares valuable space on the PCB. The metric 1mm pitch saves approximately 30% of space per surface unit when compared with a 1.27mm arrangement. Moreover, the SMD contact pads reduce the PCB footprint by 40% in comparison with a gull-wing configuration. With a 5.6mm board-to-board height, the connector is ideal for applications where saving space is a key issue.

This new connector is equipped with precision-machined contacts arranged in a double-row, 36-poles pattern (other layouts are available on request), suitable for SMD reflow soldering. The 0.4mm diameter male contacts come with gold plating, and the female contacts are equipped with an inserted four-fingers contact clip, also gold-plated. A coplanarity of <0.1mm is achieved through high-quality mold and high precision screw-machined contacts.

The connector is especially recommended for applications with little surface space and/or height, such as industrial sensors, remote control transceivers
, medical equipment, systems with embedded microprocessors
, portable terminals, mobile phones, professional mobile radios
, and domotic applications.
