BIRNS launched a new high-amperage subsea connector series, the 225 Amp BIRNS Meridian line. This robust, custom-engineered dry-mate connector series is open-face rated to 6 km and is perfect for battery packs and thrusters for crewed and uncrewed subsea vehicles that require high amperage power transfer. BIRNS Meridians are compact and come in several pin configurations, like the M40 configuration with a single 85 square millimeter (3/0 AWG) contact. Both standard and reverse gender versions are featured in the series. All withstand reverse pressure and can be installed into both dry and oil-filled canisters. Several exclusive design features create ease of use and mating, including a tactile alignment index ridge and arrows indicating the primary key position. The receptacles also feature a blue color band on the shell, which allows users to have a strong visual indicator that a connector pair has been fully mated.
The ODU MINI-SNAP Series F Super Shorty combines the advantages of the ODU MINI-SNAP series with a smaller design. The connector offers the usual reliability with a size reduction of up to 25%. It is the ideal solution for applications that require easy mounting in extremely confined spaces. A more efficient and flexible system design is possible without having to compromise on performance or reliability. A suitable cable assembly is also required for error-free transmission. Despite its reduced size, the connector has enough space for convenient and professional connection of the cable strands. The design also provides the optimum conditions for overmolding and protection of the termination area, either in a straight or right-angled design. The ODU MINI-SNAP Series F Super Shorty connectors are available as ready-made assemblies with matching cable and overmolding for an end product tailored to the application. This means that customized solutions for specific inserts can be produced from a single source in a straightforward procurement process.

The new Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Controller from WAGO is a library function block with a control algorithm for voltage, frequency, and reactive power control. To ensure a reliable power system, the DER connection to the grid requires communication between the energy source and the operator. Standards like IEEE 1547-2018 have been implemented to provide a trouble-free connection between systems. WAGO’s DER supports clauses 5 and 10 related to IEEE 1547-2018. Clause 5 deals with reactive power and voltage/power control. This reinforces Clause 10 which handles the subject of interoperability for information exchange. The library function block in these controllers is programmed with CODESYS 3.5 software and has been validated and verified by a nationally recognized testing laboratory.
The Wieland Group sets new standards in lead-free brass machining, forming, and efficiency with the new SZ product family, specifically the eco SZ3 alloy. As part of the ecoline family, it boasts unprecedented quality and outperforms the previous lead-free alloys, rendering them excellent alternatives for comparable lead-containing alloys. The stricter regulatory requirements and the rising demand for green products prompted the development of new lead-free copper alloys that retained properties like those of the leaded variants. Eco SZ3 meets all current requirements placed on leaded materials CuZn40Pb2 and CuZn39Pb3, such as conductivity, corrosion resistance, and mechanical properties. Eco SZ3 has excellent hot stamping properties, and although the alloy contains less than 0.1% lead, it also has good machinability. These properties make the material highly attractive for use in industries such as plumbing, electrical, and automotive.
