DigiKey is the key sponsor of the EW Project Challenge 2024 by ElectronicWings, a global design contest that aims to develop technology solutions to solve problems and improve the future. The design contest encourages engineers, makers, and hardware developers to build projects that bring improvement, enhance efficiency, and positively impact society. The challenge is open now and runs through August 5, 2024, with winners announced on August 13, 2024.

Radiall, along with branding agency Parker Madison, earned two prestigious Netty Awards, Best Innovative Design and Best Sustainable Design, for its presence at the Paris Air Show. The prestigious show features participants such as Boeing, Airbus, SpaceX, and BAE. Radiall’s award-winning presence included a state-of-the-art booth experience and supporting marketing strategies that portrayed Radiall as the “hospitality” provider of the aerospace industry while highlighting its innovation, expertise, and customer service. Radiall’s booth offered engagement with the company’s brand with a distinctive and inviting ambiance. Parker Madison provided email and social media campaigns, brochure and FAQ packages, and QR-code-enabled placards. Radiall also developed a dedicated website landing page and corporate video for the exhibit.
Sager Electronics announced the top performers in its 2023 Supplier Excellence Program, which focuses on quality, operations, and business systems support. For the third time in the program’s history, Samtec was honored with two awards – the Diamond Confidence Award for Overall Top Supplier Performance and the Best Quality Award. This marks the seventh time Samtec has been recognized since the program’s inception in 2014. Sager also congratulates Panduit for exceeding the program’s threshold for recognition, marking the first time Panduit has been honored in Sager’s Supplier Excellence Program.
DigiKey received 18 honors from its supplier partners during the 2024 EDS Leadership Summit, held May 21-23 in Las Vegas. The company has expanded its portfolio in the past year by adding more than 450 new suppliers across its core business, DigiKey Marketplace, and Fulfilled by DigiKey programs. The company is an authorized distributor of electronic components and automation products for more than 2,900 industry-leading suppliers, ensuring engineers, designers, procurement professionals, and builders that the products they order are authentic and come to DigiKey directly from the manufacturer.

R&M opened a new fiber optic plant in India in mid-May. The entire infrastructure was relocated to Bagaluru, in the north of Bangalore. Bagaluru is R&M’s largest site worldwide for the manufacture of fiber optic cabling components. R&M has had its own production facilities in India since 2014 and supplies India’s entire telecom industry as well as metro and smart city projects. In addition to infrastructure solutions for FTTx networks, R&M India offers the development of dedicated cabling solutions for enterprises and data centers. R&M promotes charity initiatives as part of its commitment to local communities. For example, its long-term afforestation project in Errabadu is helping to provide livelihoods for Indian farmers and contributing to CO2 compensation.

PEI-Genesis has been named an authorized global distributor for Micro-Mode Products. The partnership will fortify the company’s already broad offering of harsh environment, high performance, RF connector, and cable solutions. Micro-Mode specializes in engineering high-bandwidth radio frequency (RF) connectors designed for mission-critical applications, including radar, satellite, and smart defense systems. Following the acquisition of Micro-Mode Products by ITT Cannon in May 2023, this strategic move bolsters ITT Cannon’s product portfolio and extends PEI-Genesis’s range of offerings.
DigiKey has been registered as an Importer of Record (IOR) in Japan, effective May 1, 2024, after successfully completing the steps required by the Japanese government. As an IOR, DigiKey is responsible for ensuring that imported goods comply with local laws in Japan, enabling Japanese customers to eliminate the need for customs clearance and payment of duties and consumption tax. The new IOR status also provides Japanese customers compliance with the government’s Qualified Invoice System (QIS), introduced last October. It allows customers to issue qualified local invoices, including QIS registration numbers. Equipped with comprehensive sales, marketing, and technical support functions, DigiKey Japan enhances support for local engineers and purchasing managers and their unique needs within the region.

Phoenix Contact is partnering with Penn State’s Digital Foundry at New Kensington to help workers in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, develop skills for today’s smart manufacturing environment. The Digital Foundry is a regional hub that fosters the growth and economic vitality of Southwestern Pennsylvania through education, training, and the accelerated adoption of digital and smart manufacturing technologies. Students use real-world automation equipment in a learning space that mimics an actual manufacturing floor. As a technology partner, Phoenix Contact is providing in-kind donations, such as PLCnext control, Ethernet switches, cables, and other products. Phoenix Contact employees provide technical support and education. CESMII, the Smart Manufacturing Institute, has designated the Digital Foundry as one of its Smart Manufacturing Innovation Centers (SMICs). These centers of excellence throughout the U.S. focus on building industry-specific smart manufacturing ecosystems.

Molex’s in-depth report, Thermal Management Solutions for I/O Modules. addresses the limitations of legacy approaches for thermal characterization and management and explores new innovations in server and optical module cooling to better support 112G and 224G connectivity. “As demand for faster, more efficient data processing and storage continues to rise rapidly, so does the heat generated by the high-performance servers and systems needed to scale generative AI applications and support the transition from 112 Gb/s PAM-4 to 224 Gb/s PAM-4,” said Doug Busch, VP & GM, Enabling Solutions Group, Molex. “The integration of optical connectivity and optical modules, applied with new cooling technologies, will optimize airflow and thermal management within next-gen data centers.
