Fischer Core Series Stainless Steel Connectors

By News Release | August 03, 2015

The Fischer Core Series Stainless Steel connectors are ultra-sterile and highly configurable.

Fischer ConnectorsFischer Core Series Stainless Steel Connectors launched its new stainless steel range of circular connectors, part of the highly configurable Fischer Core Series.

The new connectors are made of premium-grade stainless steel – the best on the market. They offer outstanding chemical, temperature, and radiation resistance. They have been specially designed for areas where long-term, reliable solutions in extreme environments are required, such as nuclear and energy, medical, and food processing applications. They are not only safe but also easy to clean, completely sterilizable, and highly versatile.

The materials used in the Fischer Core Series Stainless Steel connectors are 316L stainless steel, polyether ether ketone (PEEK), and ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM). These offer the best radiation and corrosion resistance, while ensuring consistently high performance even in high temperatures. The connectors enable microbiological sterilization (autoclave, ethylene oxide, gamma radiation, Steris or Sterrad, Cidex).

In some fields of medicine, sterilization needs to be combined with radioactive decontamination. Nuclear medicine uses radioactive isotopes for curative applications or imagery applications, like PET scanner imagery and scintigraphy imagery. Premium components therefore need to be designed to guarantee optimal radioprotection. Fischer’s stainless steel connectors are compatible with decontamination fluids (decon 90 and RBS 25). Combining sterilization and decontamination makes the connectors re-usable, lowering the total cost of ownership.

“In a medical environment, cleanliness is essential, and reliable, fully sterilizable connections are vital to ensuring human protection,” said Jacques Miéville, product manager at Fischer Connectors. This new stainless steel range has been developed with these challenges in mind. The connectors are available in many different combinations and are highly configurable to meet our clients’ unique requirements. There are probably two million possibilities.”

Clients can choose the size, body style, plugs, and contact block (PCB, solder, or crimp contacts, and two to 15 pins). There are both sealed or unsealed options available, including IP68, and 360-degree EMC shielding can be added. The connectors can be handled easily with gloves, allowing simple movements for mating, unmating, and full control of operations, thanks to the patented industry-standard push-pull locking system.

Fischer Connectors complies with the relevant international norms to ensure quality, safety, and environmental friendliness of its connectors, processes, and systems (including ISO 9001, ISO 134 85, ISO 14001, ROHS, and REACH).
