Connectors for Telematics, GPS, and ADAS Product Roundup
This week’s Product Roundup highlights connectors for telematics, GPS, and ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) from leading connector manufacturers and suppliers.
Connectors for Telematics, GPS, and ADAS
PEI-Genesis offers FAKRA connectors from Amphenol RF. These connectors are designed to perform up to 3 GHz and meet the particular mechanical and environmental requirements of the automotive industry. They ensure reliable function for communication technologies inside vehicles (i.e., for telematics), as well as to and from vehicles from outside sources.
MHF I LK and MHF 4L LK connectors from I-PEX are designed for reliability in telematics, GPS, and ADAS applications. These connectors provide superior signal integrity, ensuring connectivity in critical navigation and safety systems. Their robust locking mechanism enhances vibration resistance, making them ideal for automotive environments. With a compact design for space-constrained applications, they offer easy integration without compromising on performance.
Adam Tech enhances its FAKRA series with its High Speed Data FAKRA connectors. One-pin FAKRA connectors are no longer adequate for applications that require higher data transmission rates. HSD FAKRA four pin connectors meet those demands with their 100 ohm impedance-controlled system, offering high speeds and top-quality signal transmission. These connectors are designed to satisfy RF requirements in various telematic and multimedia applications. They provide high performance, cost-effective RF interface to FAKRA and USCAR standards. Their SMB-based design includes multiple color-coded plastic housings to ensure accurate connections. Adam Tech’s HSD FAKRA connectors are ideal for automotive applications and are designed to meet the operational and environmental requirements of Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service (SDARS), Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM), and Global Positioning System (GPS).
The HSAutoLink products from Molex offer connectivity solutions, ensuring high-speed data and power integration for advanced automotive systems, from infotainment to ADAS, in compact, robust designs for any environment. Data rates up to 40 Gb/s for certain HSAutoLink variants support protocols such as LVDS, USB, and DisplayPort. Full-length cable shielding and multiple keying options help ensure superior electrical performance and simplify assembly.
The HR34B Series circular connector from Hirose is a preferred choice for telematics, GPS, and ADAS applications in automotive, construction, and agricultural equipment due to its compact size and robust design. Whether in the rugged terrain of construction sites or the dynamic environments of agricultural fields, the HR34B Series circular connector ensures reliable performance. Withstanding vibrations and impacts common in harsh environment applications, a push-on bayonet lock mechanism allows for quick and secure connections, which is crucial for efficient installation and maintenance. Designed to resist exposure to dust, water, oils, and other harsh chemicals, the HR34B Series circular connector is rated to IP67/IP68 protection when fully mated, ensuring long-term reliable performance in demanding environments. These connectors feature three guide keys that enable blind mating, making it easier to connect components in various orientations — especially beneficial when installing or replacing parts in tight spaces on vehicles, construction equipment, or agricultural machinery.
Hirose’s DF40F Series supplied by Heilind plays a crucial role in ADAS by enabling secure, high-speed data and power transmission for various sensors, including lidar, radar, and cameras. Built for speed, Hirose connectors facilitate rapid data transfer, essential for instant decision-making. With its space saving design, heat resistance, and high-speed transmission capabilities, the DF40 Series is ideal for the intricate requirements of drones and robotics utilizing lidar technology.
JAE’s MX74 series complies with IEEE802.3bw 100BASE-T1, as the recent advancement of ADAS requires a high performance standard data communication technology. Automotive Ethernet has been adopted in the communication between ECUs (electronic control units) or other high speed devices.
Avnet supplies high-speed FAKRA-Mini (HFM) connectors by Molex, designed to provide high-speed data connectivity for advanced automotive systems including cameras and telematics. HFM connectors deliver data rates of up to 28 Gb/s at frequencies up to 20 GHz in a compact, lightweight form factor optimized for rugged reliability and space efficiency.
TE Connectivity´s NET-AX+ modular hybrid data connector can integrate differential and coaxial data, signal, and power contacts in a single connector assembly. NET-AX+ is designed for both the current and next generation of electrical/electronic(E/E) architectures to support the ethernet and SerDes applications of next generation vehicles.
