On July 10, Neutrik Group celebrated the 50th anniversary of its iconic brand NEUTRIK with an event at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C., near the company’s Americas headquarters. Employees, customers, partners, dealers, and distributors from across the region were in attendance. With a theme inspired by speed, performance, and innovation — all qualities shared by both NEUTRIK and NASCAR — Neutrik Group’s new CEO Lukas von Arx acknowledged the company’s roots and emphasized its continued dedication to engineering excellence and customer partnerships. Founded in 1975 in Schaan, Liechtenstein, NEUTRIK revolutionized the AV world by introducing the first XLR connector with latch locking. The company established Neutrik USA in 1988 and over the decades, the company expanded its product portfolio to include powerCON, etherCON, speakON, opticalCON, and most recently, its mediaCON and FIBERFOX lines. In 2021, the Neutrik Group restructured as a multi-brand company with the integration of REAN and CONTRIK, broadening its capabilities across industrial and system integration markets. TE Connectivity is an official partner of the Next2OEM research project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE, formerly Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action – BMWK). TE contributed to the development of a new connector geometry specifically designed for use in automated manufacturing processes with robotic gripper systems, part of the “Component Automation” work package in the Next2OEM project. In this area, connectors, cable lengths, and features such as joints, splices, brackets, and sheaths are specifically designed to enable reliable and efficient integration into automated handling and assembly lines. The connector design is being standardized to support automated processes from the supplier to integration into the vehicle at the OEM. The final version of this drawing is being finalized and forms the basis for future applications at OEMs and suppliers. The connector geometry has already been presented by TE Connectivity at Wiring Systems Congress and other industry events. See a demonstration video.

The MIPI Alliance, an international organization that develops interface specifications for mobile and mobile-influenced industries, today announced the release of MIPI I3C Basic v1.2, a scalable utility and control bus interface for connecting peripherals to a microcontroller or an application processor, streamlining integration and improving cost efficiencies. Version 1.2 reorganizes the specification, with separate sections for mandatory and optional features that can be implemented based on application needs. MIPI I3C Basic is a rich subset of the member-version MIPI I3C that is licensed on royalty-free terms. The I3C interface, introduced in 2016 and significantly updated to v1.1 in 2019, was designed to build upon the key attributes of the legacy serial interfaces I2C, SPI, and UART while making it easier to implement. At the same time, it offers greater performance and power efficiency and removes many of the pain points faced by developers. MIPI I3C has been adopted by PCI-SIG and NVM Express as a system management bus (SMBus), by JEDEC in its sideband bus and DDR5 standard, by ETSI in its Smart Secure Platform (SSP) and Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC), and is an area of focus for a MIPI liaison relationship with DMTF (Distributed Management Task Force).
