Mil-Spec-Approved Circular Connectors and Commercial Equivalents

Smiths Interconnect MIL-DTL-38999 Filter Connectors are designed to meet or exceed all applicable requirements of Series I, II, III, and IV. Filter connectors are intermateable and interchangeable with the standard non-filtered connectors. They address EMI/RFI filtering, and transient protection to meet demanding HIRF and Lightning requirements. Smiths Interconnect’s design strategy for filter connectors is based on extensive experience with filter capacitor arrays and diodes and the understanding of the extreme environmental conditions that can cause a filter or diode to fail or cause a system dysfunction. This design strategy is built on the foundation of system reliability and the efficient use of available space. The capacitor array is protected from thermally induced mechanical stresses by a barrier located between the capacitor array surface and the epoxy filled region. This barrier isolates the epoxy and the ceramic array and prevents damage to the array from the expansion influence of the epoxy.
The JK06 Series from JAE is a waterproof circular connector developed for railway vehicles and related electronic equipment. The JK06 Series is designed in accordance with VG95234 specifications (contact arrangement is compatible with MIL-DTL-5015) and is also compliant with NFF61-030 (French standard for rolling stock) and EN50467 (European standard for railway applications, rolling stock). The JK06 Series is also ideally suited for use in other industrial equipment applications that require a rugged and secure connection.
CDM Electronics supplies Amphenol Pcd’s MW Series Power Connectors. Qualified to MIL-C-55181 (QPL designation MIL-DTL-55181), MW Series Power Connectors are polarized and have a center lock coupling screw to ensure they can withstand high shock and vibration. Meeting or exceeding MIL-DTL-38999 Series III requirements, Amphenol’s Tri-Start connector is available in aluminum, stainless steel, or composite with several finish options. Solid metal-to-metal coupling, grounding fingers provide superior EMI shielding. The 100% scoop-proof connector minimizes potential contact damage. Operates under severe high temperature vibration, through 200 °C with firewall capability. This self-locking, quick coupling connector eliminates lockwiring and is stainless steel qualified to BACC63DB and BACC63DC specifications.
SV Microwave offers DC to 40 GHz high frequency size 8, 12, and 16 coaxial contacts for the D38999 Series III housing and standard inserts. These contacts allow any application to continue to use the D38999 connector and be able to expand its use to include the microwave transmission lines. They offer superior electrical performance, high frequency capability, blindmate advantage, and maintenance of an accurate phase length when mated. These contacts use standard interfaces based on MIL-STD-348 and can be installed in any MIL-DTL-38999 size 8, 12, or 16 insert. Unique “float mount” technology allows for consistent microwave performance while maintaining tight mechanical tolerances.
Cinch Connectivity’s MS3110 through MS3129 and commercial versions of MIL-DTL-26482 environmentally sealed circular connector are available in threaded and bayonet coupling with solder, crimp, or pc tail contacts. Also available in PW, PWF, and PWC series commercial versions. They meet or exceed the requirements of MIL-C-26482 Series 1 Crimp and Solder and PC tail and are in the U.S. Department of Defense QPL. Shells and hardware are made of high strength aluminum alloys and are available with a variety of plated or anodized finishes. Standard contact termination by crimping; wire stripping automated, by crimping machines, or manually.

The Fischer UltiMate 80 connector is designed to meet Nett Warrior standards and is compatible with other NATO STANAG 4695 and Generic Open Soldier System Reference Architecture (GOSSRA) connectors. It has been engineered to offer ultra-rugged, lightweight, and IP68-sealed connectivity solutions for any harsh environments, especially for soldier modernization programs, and comes in two layouts featuring 6 or 7 signal and power contacts with up to AWG 22. As of October 2022, the connector offers high current up to 10 A. Its enhanced contact alloy allows for higher conductivity, lower heat rise, and optimal performance. Compliant with MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-202, the UltiMate 80 offers endurance and environmental and mechanical performance that outperforms by far other suppliers’ similar connectors. In terms of ruggedness, features include high resistance to corrosion (500 hours salt mist), up to 10,000 mating cycles for the plug / 5,000 for the receptacle, random vibration 7.7 Grms, shock resistant (100 G), cable bending resistance (+/-45° for 5000 cycles), temperature (-55 °C to +135 °C), triple key coding. Lightweight: 2,7 g housing material in aluminum. Environmental sealing: connector ingress protection mated and unmated is IP68 2m/24h.
Heilind supplies Amphenol’s circular connector backshell hardware and dustcaps in many different types and styles, designed for optimal performance in harsh and demanding applications. Amphenol backshells are RoHS-compliant and qualified to AS85049, providing strain relief, environmental sealing, and EMI/RFI shielding.
