Harwin began construction on a new £30 million electronics manufacturing facility in Portsmouth. Set for completion in 2026, the 7,459 m² facility adds to existing manufacturing capacity to meet growing global demand for its high-reliability and industrial connectors. The state-of-the-art facility incorporates multiple design initiatives that minimize the environmental impact of Harwin’s operations. This includes the use of rooftop solar, with 388 high-efficiency solar panels generating a forecast 244,000 kWh annually. This reduces the sites CO₂ emissions by approximately 32 tons per year, the equivalent of planting 1,471 trees. The facility uses a novel multi-level design that spans four floors, minimizing land usage and the building’s impact on the local environment. The building also meets stringent BREEAM sustainability standards, the world’s leading science-based suite of validation and certification systems for sustainable buildings and part of Harwin’s commitment to environmentally responsible manufacturing. Conscious steps have been made to reduce the impact of travelling to work with more than a third of all parking spaces dedicated to bikes and electric vehicle charging points will also be available. The world-leading manufacturing site will bolster Harwin’s ability to serve key markets, including aerospace, defense, industrial automation, and advanced electronics. Contractor Knights Brown has committed to a substantial social value plan with the aim of bringing people and communities together to support economic growth. Initiatives will include working with local secondary schools, recruiting apprentices, volunteering at key community projects and attending local STEM events.

Waldom Electronics has partnered with Molex to introduce the Waldom x Molex Mini Reel Program.Waldom Electronics has partnered with Molex to introduce the Waldom x Molex Mini Reel Program. This new initiative provides Molex distributors with access to over 450 high-demand Molex parts, spanning board-to-board, wire-to-board, and FFC-FPC connectors that are available immediately from stock in right-sized reel options. This approach eliminates long lead times, reduces costs, and minimizes excess inventory. Traditionally, high minimum order quantities (MOQs) and long lead times (averaging 18 weeks) have posed challenges for distributors, often resulting in excess stock, increased financial strain, and supply chain inefficiencies. With the Waldom x Molex Mini Reel Program, distributors can now purchase parts in small-size reel options, ensuring they get exactly what they need without the wait.
