Smiths Interconnect added two new types of data transmission modulesSmiths Interconnect added two new types of data transmission modules to its high density modular and minimodular connector ranges that are easy to assemble, based on the principle of building blocks with a system composed of modules and frames. Modules of various styles and different contact types are available for different application requirements, combining signal, power, coaxial, pneumatic, and data contact technologies into custom arrangements within a single connector frame. The electrical performance of these modules is optimized through low insertion loss, controlled impedance, and high return loss characteristics. These factors contribute to efficient signal transmission with minimal attenuation and reflection, reducing data errors and ensuring high-speed communication. Additionally, the use of high-quality conductors and advanced shielding techniques enhances resistance to electromagnetic interference (EMI), further stabilizing data transmission. By offering a high insulation resistance and low dielectric constant, the material supports consistent signal propagation and prevents unwanted capacitance effects. Moreover, its thermal and mechanical stability ensures long-term reliability, even in demanding environmental conditions. Smiths Interconnect Cat5e and Cat6A data transmission modules are designed to withstand higher (+125 °C) and lower temperature (-55 °C) extremes, ensuring reliable performance in harsh environments. This makes them ideal for applications in aerospace, defense, industrial automation, and other demanding sectors.

presents another solution for secure connection technology in applications with the highest demands on mechanical stability. The RAST 2.5 connector for individual conductorsLumberg’s new connector type 3525 presents another solution for secure connection technology in applications with the highest demands on mechanical stability. The RAST 2.5 connector for individual conductors has a compact design and remarkable mechanical locking on the PCB. Lateral locking hooks secure the connector firmly on the PCB with a retaining force of at least 80 N. This exceptionally strong latching offers maximum security even against strong vibrations or shocks and makes the 3525 the ideal choice for demanding automotive applications. This RAST 2.5 system extension also features a new side wall variant that extends the modular RAST 2.5 interface and thus meets current market requirements for flexible and space-saving connector solutions. Contacting using insulation displacement technology (IDT) allows individual conductors with a cross-section of 0.22 to 0.38 mm² to be connected easily and efficiently. The optional coding and the option of closed side walls guarantee a reliable connection without mismating.

Harwin announced an upgrade to its Kona seriesHarwin announced an upgrade to its Kona series of high-reliability connectors, extending the lineup by over 30% through the addition of angled thru-board connectors and accessories that include shielding. Demonstration kits have also been created. The new Kona Horizontal lineup includes nine new right-angled 4-, 3-, and 2-pin SIL (single-in-line) connectors for board or board-and-panel mounting with EMI shielding and housing rear-caps for each connector. Single pin right-angle cable female and 90o male connectors have also been added. The high-reliability connectors have a pitch of 8.5 mm with a 3.65 mm PC tail. They feature individually shrouded recess contacts, polarized connections to prevent incorrect mating, and beryllium copper contacts with gold plating for reliable, durable, and corrosion-resistant electrical connections that gives a 60 A current rating per contact. The RoHS compliant connectors’ housings are manufactured using the high-performance thermoplastic PPS (polyphenylene sulfide). All parts have an operational temperature range of -65 oC to +150 oC.  The EMI shieldings are manufactured from an aluminum alloy, weigh between 6.8 and 9.4 g and add just 2.2 mm to the connector height. The housing rear caps are also constructed from PPS and have a mass of 0.50 to 1.05g.
