ATEX- & EX-Approved Connectors

Heilind Electronics supplies Glenair connectors for potential explosive zone use, built to IAW IECEx/ATEX standards. These connectors may be used in application areas where flammable gases and vapors are present as a normal condition of operation (group IIC) and with temperature classes T6 and T5, Zones 1 and 2; and for applications where potentially flammable dust is present as a normal condition of operation (group IIIC) and with temperature classes T80 °C and T95 °C in Zone 21 and 22. The connector series design is optimized for fast and easy crimp-contact wire termination with ample wiring space in the cable housing and accessory hardware.

Weidmuller USA’s Heavy Duty Connector (HDC) enclosures provide robust solutions for demanding industrial environments. The HDC 24B AS ATEX model features a rugged die-cast aluminum housing and is specifically certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. APEX/EN4644 High Density Modular System from Amphenol Pcd is a high density, rectangular, modular connection system designed for use in avionics systems conforming to the EN4644 technical specification. Plug and receptacle housings are a single piece, high-grade aluminum construction. Precision-machined ensures a lifetime of reliable operation. Housings are available in panel, rack, or cable-to-cable mounting styles and may be plated with nickel or aluminum chromate. Housings accommodate a wide range of modules, where each module is keyed to ensure proper orientation during installation. Plug and receptacles shells can be configured with pin or socket modules. Intermateable and interchangeable with other ARINC 810 galley connectors, Amphenol Pcd’s APeX Galley Connector, Rectangular is a reliable, robust connector that uses overmold technology to set it apart from the rest.

The Amphenol explosion-proof connector series Amphe-EX, supplied by PEI-Genesis, is ATEX and IECex-approved for Zone 1-rated (Europe) (IECex 60079). Amphenol Amphe-EX are the only EX explosion-proof hazardous area threaded connectors that allow a signal to pass through zone-rated areas using copper, coax, and fiber optic contacts in one product. These circular connectors can handle signal, power, or RF requirements in industrial and harsh environments.

The SPTAF 1/…-EX PCB terminal block from Phoenix Contact is ATEX-approved and satisfies the more stringent safety requirements of “Ex e” protection according to IEC 60079-7 for potentially explosive areas. SPTAF features time-saving push-in connection with no tools required. Its defined contact force ensures that contact remains stable over the long term. The clamping space opened by means of a fixed screwdriver enables convenient conductor connection. Two solder pins reduce the mechanical strain on the soldering spots.
