Registration is now open for the 73rd annual IWCS Cable & Connectivity Industry Forum, the premier technology event for the exchange of information about product, material, and process innovation for cabling and connectivity solutions. Taking place Monday, October 14 through Thursday, October 17, at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, this event features the traditional elements of the IWCS Forum plus additional new components that highlight trending developments in sustainability, energy transition, and broadband infrastructure. See the Preliminary Event Program. Among the highlights, Day 1 concludes with an unforgettable Edgar Allan “PoE” inspired reception, concluding the Power Over Ethernet (PoE) topic presented during earlier in the day. The Executive Session addresses important issues facing the industry on Day 2. New this year, on Day 3 IWCS will host the first supplementary breakout program, “Navigating the Energy Transition Smart Grid and Broadband Connectivity,” that fosters discussion on broad trends critical to global connectivity.

Littelfuse awarded DigiKey the 2023 Global High Service Distributor of the Year award. Littelfuse selects the winner of this award based on various distributor performance metrics, including overall sales growth, focus on product sales, increase in the number of customers served, and the number and quality of creative marketing campaigns.
Sager Electronics has been honored as Molex’s 2023 Americas Distributor of the Year. The award was presented at the 2024 EDS Leadership Summit in recognition of Sager’s outstanding collaboration with Molex and significant contributions to market share growth. Sager also received OTTO’s 2023 Distinguished Service Award for New Product Sales.
Waldom Electronics launched the first-ever ESG Awards in recognition of environmental, social, and governance efforts in the interconnect, passive, and electromechanical (IP&E) distribution industry. This pioneering initiative reflects Waldom’s commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. Avnet launched Tria, a new product brand, and corresponding business called Tria Technologies. The Tria brand will be the new name for embedded compute boards, systems, and associated design and manufacturing services at Avnet. The Tria Technologies team will design and manufacture standard embedded compute products as well as custom designs. Tria products and services get customers from design to mass production in much shorter time, with improved products and reduced risk to their business model. The Tria brand represents design and manufacturing capabilities and teams all over the world, including the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Tria’s compute modules have won accolades and recognition across the industry, collaborating closely with partners including Qualcomm Technologies Inc. The business will remain a wholly owned subsidiary of Avnet, connected to Avnet’s global distribution network and collaborating with Avnet’s other solutions businesses.
Amphenol Corporation announced a definitive agreement to acquire CommScope’s mobile networks businesses. The deal includes the purchase of CommScope’s Outdoor Wireless Networks (OWN) segment as well as the Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) business which resides in CommScope’s Networking, Intelligent Cellular, and Security Solutions (NICS) segment. Amphenol President and Chief Executive Officer R. Adam Norwitt said, “CommScope provides mobile networks solutions, with advanced technologies in the areas of base station antennas and related interconnect solutions, as well as distributed antenna systems. In particular, we are encouraged that the businesses we are acquiring make up the former Andrew Corporation portfolio of products, a company with a rich history of innovation and technology leadership in the wireless industry. We look forward to supporting customers who are developing next-generation wireless networks around the world with these advanced solutions as well as our own existing complementary products. Finally, this acquisition further supports Amphenol’s long-term growth and balanced end market exposure across all areas of the electronics market.”

DigiKey announced significant portfolio expansions in the first two quarters of 2024. This includes the addition of more than 150 new suppliers and more than 340,000 innovative new products across its core business, DigiKey Marketplace, and Fulfilled by DigiKey program, including 90,000 new stocking parts with inventory available to sell from AEM, FLEXEMATIC, Faulhaber, Nexcom, and Pacific Lasertec.
DigiKey has partnered with Kingston Technology to distribute its memory and storage solutions globally. Kingston, an independent manufacturer of memory products, offers a wide variety of options, including eMMC, eMCP, ePoP, UFS, and DRAM components for industrial and embedded OEM customers of all sizes. The company also provides an industrial SSD line of SATA and NVMe solid state drives (SSDs) created specifically for system designers and builders. DigiKey now offers Kingston’s embedded products, USB drives, enterprise solid state drives (SSDs), industrial SSDs, and Kingston memory modules for use in IoT, networking and communications, embedded, infotainment, bio-medical, and industrial, as well as new Kingston products as they come to market.
Amphenol Communications Solutions has joined Waldom Electronics’ Green Stock Program in Southeast Asia. This collaboration marks a significant milestone, reinforcing the commitment both companies have to sustainability and efficient resource management. Waldom’s Green Stock Program redistributes new, never-been-used components from authorized distributors and brands Waldom is franchised for. This prevents these still in-demand parts from going to waste. Green Stock allows purchasers to secure quality components while contributing to their own Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals. Amphenol CS brings a broad range of standard products to Waldom’s Green Stock initiative. FDH Aero expanded its facility in Bremen, Germany, to become a Center of Excellence for the EMEA region. Equipped with an expansive inventory profile and a team of local industry experts, the center will serve as a central point of contact for FDH Aero’s EMEA customers. The center will also be integrating the Montpellier, France-based FDH Aero brand, Société AHE Inc., into this location, which will now function under the FDH Aero brand.
