This week’s Product Roundup highlights power connectors for transportation from leading connector manufacturers and suppliers.

Power Connectors for Transportation

Amphenol's SurLok Plus connectors from PEI-GenesisAmphenol’s SurLok Plus connectors from PEI-Genesis are a field installable alternative to common compression lugs. Features include IP67 protection, touch-proof, and RoHS compliance. The products also contain RADSOK contact technology. They are designed to support electric and hybrid electric vehicles.

ACDRA V-LockACDRA’s V-Loc™ High Voltage Connector Series features a secondary locking latch and double-sided HVIL for higher reliability. This rugged connector series is rated IP68 (1 meter, 48 hours) and can endure salt spray up to 500 hours for challenging transportation and other outdoor applications. Optional thermistor integration for temperature monitor is available.

The RockStar IP68 housing series from Weidmuller uses materials that promise a long lifetime in harsh settings such as railway environments and other outdoor applications. The RockStar series features thick-walled aluminum housings with a passivate surface, silicon gaskets and stainless-steel locking screws that can withstand heavy vibration or the impact of stones forcefully hitting the housings.

Eddicy’s HV series connectors from SchaltbauEddicy’s HV series connectors from Schaltbau feature solid power and signal contacts and are suitable for a wide range of high-current applications. The robust connectors have a modular design and protection against accidental contact. They are IP69K certified and designed for a high number of mating cycles. The HV connectors are perfect for high power rating. They can be used in energy transmission between rail cars or the connection of track and trailer on heavy e-vehicles. Other applications include use as a high-performance charging connector for powerful battery packs.

I-PEX’s AP-10 is a board-to-board power terminalI-PEX’s AP-10 is a board-to-board power terminal engineered to deliver up to 30A in a compact form factor. With one-action mating, AP-10 simplifies installation and replaces traditional screw-fastened busbars. The space-saving design supports PCB miniaturization. Standard inter-board height options range from 13.6 mm to 23.1 mm, and custom solutions are available to meet specific design requirements.

Nicomatic’s EMM seriesNicomatic’s EMM series is designed for transportation environments where space and weight are critical, such as aerospace, defense vehicles, or rail systems. With a miniature and reinforced 1.27 mm pitch format and hybrid signal/power configurations, EMM connectors can integrate up to 12 power contacts (up to 10 A per contact) in addition to high-density signal lines. Equipped with screw-lock mechanisms, they ensure vibration resistance and secure locking even in the most extreme conditions. Tested and validated for vibration, extreme temperatures, and EMC, they are ideal for aviation, drones, electric mobility, and embedded systems. They feature high contact density in a compact format and mixed signal/power configurations.

MCON from TE Connectivity is a series of contact systems commonly used for electrical and electronic applications for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The contact design meets standardized blade sizes and interface requirements of the automotive industry. With the exception of the miniaturized MCON 0.50 contact system, all contacts follow the two-piece contact design strategy to separate the electrical from the mechanical performance. The MCON contact series is available for sealed and unsealed applications. The new generation MCON connector system offers receptacle and tab housings with capability for waterproofing and resistance to conditions of extreme vibration. For a fast and economic termination process, TE Application Tooling offers a vast portfolio of application equipment.
