Bernd Richter: Connections for life

Bernd Richter GmbH, part of the globally active Amphenol Group, has been developing and producing cable and connector systems for customers in the healthcare, defense and industrial sectors for over 30 years.

Off-the-shelf or customized solutions are not a contradiction for us, but a daily challenge. Over 300 employees work professionally and passionately on innovative products for a connecting world.

We create custom cable solutions for patient monitoring parameters such as ECG, SpO2, IBP and Temperature cables.

Further, Bernd Richter is manufacture of life sustaining critical Class 3 medical devices such as heart pump interconnect systems and Defibrillation shock therapy device cables.

The field of defense technology demands highest level of resilience, which our systems can withstand and thus ensure flawless communication.

Each product and application come with special requirements, which we consider from the very first production step.

Our development department is involved in your project from day one and offers technical support from the design draft to prototype production.

CABLE TYPES – For a direct link to individual cable type, click on corresponding image in rotating banner.

ECG and Monitoring – Classic Holter ECG cable solutions with up to six leadwires can remain on the patient’s body for 24 hours. Comfort, biocompatibility and durability are important. Advantages are small, lightweight and easy to use cable connections.

Therapy – Defibrillation Shock Therapy requires highly sophisticated electronics. Energy of up to 360 joules is transmitted, and the current intensity is up to 15 amperes. Functionality and, above all, safety for both the patient and the caregiver must be guaranteed.

Heart Pump Cables and Connectors – We are manufacture of life sustaining critical Class 3 medical devices such as heart pump interconnect systems. The us of fine wire for lightweight cables and smaller connectors and PCBAs as well as the capability to manufacture within a clean room environment is part of our advantages.

CPR – Ventilation – Sensors on the ventilators support doctors in their efforts to save lives. Gas mixture, flow rates and oxygen saturation must be constantly recorded.

Monitoring – Our ECG, SpO2, Temperature, and IBP cables systems are well known for their safe, accurate and clear transmission. Whether you require a Medi-Clip, banana plug, or dome-snap patient end connection, or an off the shelf or completely custom keyway for the device connector, we have a solution.

Ultrasound – Cables and connectors for ultrasonic systems must be durable and withstand many mating cycles. A good mix of materials and reliable workmanship guarantee both. Patient vital data must be recorded and transmitted safely in harsh and demanding operating environments. This requires autoclavable cable designs and interference-free transmission of vital data from patient to device.

Hybrid Cables and Fiber Optics  – The combination of fiber optics and conventional low voltage wire transmission technology in one cable requires special skills and many years of experience. ABR offers a connection from the patient to the device via several interfaces without significant losses in transmission.

Silicone – Cables used in surgery must give the surgeon maximum freedom of movement. In addition, the high temperatures during sterilization and autoclaving place additional stress on the cable material. ABR silicone cable systems fulfill both of these requirements. The optional surface coating offers a silky pleasant feel, is easy to clean and ensures durability.

Richter Connection System – We offer our own connector system which is universally applicable for medical applications. Available in a variety of colors, sizes and both straight and right angled, the RS connectors can be produced with up to 12 contacts.

Mobile Communications – To guarantee mobile communications for soldiers, our products must come with small and lightweight design and tight bending radii. Requirements per IP 68 & salt spray resistance are observed.

In-vehicle Communications – Cable systems for in-vehicle communication require shielded systems with EMC considerations and must be water resistant with high IP ratings. This is what our products comply with.

Radar – Cable systems for in-vehicle communication require shielded systems with EMC considerations and must be water resistant with high IP ratings. This is what our products comply with.
