With many markets and only five days in the workweek, everybody focuses their efforts where they can get the best payback. One of the biggest opportunities Amphenol sees is in the global HEV market. Our RADSOK® technology has opened many doors in the past and now does so with HEV customers, who require high power and small footprints. Through its hyperbolic grid technology, RADSOK can increase the amount of current used up to 50% with the same-sized contact. Popular HEV RADSOK applications range from 70A up to 700A.
In 2015, we launched several new products for the HEV market that featured RADSOK. The ePower and PowerLok introductions immediately appealed to the HEV customers who demand an extremely high- performing rugged interconnect. Amphenol’s SurLok Plus and UPC Connectors are a great addition for more standard applications. For our customers requiring small package sizes (think electric mowers or scooters), we launched Amphe-RXS, which
mixes power and signal contacts in one system. We continue to launch new products, including the 2016 introduction of ePower-Lite.
Customers are looking for products like these and there is little competition above 250A, which is where Amphenol’s RADSOK excels.
